We take various measures to secure your account, but you can add another layer of protection with two-factor authentication. Once enabled, two-factor authentication verifies your identity by sending a code via text or phone call to your phone number. Security experts recognize that multi-factor authentication can help prevent your account password from being compromised.
When setting up two-factor authentication, you can select your preferred method to receive security codes:
Authentication App
Use the Google Authenticator app or Microsoft Authenticator app to receive codes. You can receive codes without internet or mobile service.
Phone Number
Set up your phone number to receive text messages or a voice call with authentication codes.
Enabling two-factor authentication is easy, but make sure your computer and phone are handy. To turn this feature on, follow these simple steps:
- Log into your portal.
- From the home page, click on the shield icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
- Select Login & Security.
- Under the "Two-Factor Authentication" section, select your desired method. This can be through an authentication app or phone number.
Enabling Authentication App
- Install either authenticator app on your mobile device—Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.
- In the “Two-Factor Authentication” section, select the Setup button next to the “Authentication App” option.
- Enter your password and hit Next: Setup.
- Open your authentication app, select the plus button (+), and select scan QR code.
- Then, scan the QR code on your screen and hit Next: Verify.
- Note: Your authenticator app will register the Colorado SecureSavings account.
- Enter the 6-digit code that shows in your app and select Confirm.
Enabling Phone Number
- In the “Two-Factor Authentication” section, select the Setup button next to the “Phone Numbers” option.
- Enter your password and hit Next: Setup.
- Enter your mobile phone number, and select Next: Verify.
- Enter the 6-digit code sent to you by text message or phone call and hit Confirm.
- Note: If you do not receive the 6-digit code, you can select Resend code.
Once an authentication method has been set up, you will see an “Enabled” status.
Use the three dots next to each method to:
Edit
- Authentication App: Switch between Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator.
- Phone Number: Update or change your phone number.
Set as Default
- If both methods have been set up, you can choose which method you would like to use as your default authentication method.
Remove
- You may remove any backup method.
Logging in with Two-Factor Authentication Enabled
